A willingness to challenge and be challenged
The amazing part about being at the University of Florida is that we have a commitment to creating signature student experiences which is why you will see hundreds of different leadership opportunities and programs. The Dean’s Leadership Program seeks to find those students who are looking for a niche, a leg up, or an opportunity to aspire for more. I believe in creating smaller communities in such a large place. Our spring 2019 Leadership Program will be specifically designed for second year students as well as Transfer students who started at UF after Summer A 2018.
Time Commitment
The Dean’s Leadership Program is designed as a six-week cohort model. Meaning if you miss a week you might miss out on a lot. Each week we intensively focus on one topic so students may not miss any minute by arriving late or leaving early. Of course I will work with you if something unexpected happens (i.e. sickness, family emergency, etc.).
Spring 2019 Cohort Meeting Time
Days: Wednesday, March 13, 2019 – April 17, 2019
Time: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Location: Dean of Students Office (Peabody Hall)
Credit Requirement
I know that UF is home to some of the most talented students in the country. The Dean’s Leadership Program for the Spring 2019 cohort is reserved for those students who are in their second year or transfer students who started after Summer A 2018. You may have only started last year and have 90 credits, however this will not preclude you from applying.
GPA Requirement
I believe that students can have a challenging semester or two in their journey to completing their college education. We are not measured by how we fall, but how we get back up. With the right guidance and support, I believe everyone is capable of succeeding. The Dean’s Leadership Program will accept all GPAs.
Conduct Requirement
As a part of the application process we ask that students agree to a check of their conduct record. I whole-heatedly believe that our student conduct system is one of the best in the country at making sure that all persons have the opportunity to repair any damage done to our community. We will check to see what steps you took to make-meaning out of your conduct experience.
