Welcome to New Student Programs!

New Student Programs provides on-going programs that support new students and families in their transition to UF by:

Orientation is mandatory for all new first-year and transfer students:

Preview is for students who have just recently graduated high school. This program provides students the opportunity to make a smooth transition to college and become acclimated with the university.

Transfer Preview is for students transferring from other colleges and universities. This program provides students the opportunity to make a smooth transition to UF and become acclimated to a larger university.

Family Preview is for family members of first-time freshmen. This program helps answer questions and ease concerns family members may have with their first year student's transition to college and UF.

Weeks of Welcome is a month long series of events during the beginning of Summer B and Fall semester to help both new and returning students meet new people and find new opportunities available to them at UF.

Navigating the Swamp is a half day, mini-conference for new students to obtain important information the day before classes begins. You will have the option to choose from a variety of workshops to help you start the fall semetser one-step ahead!

Success from the start begins with Gator First Year Experience (GFYE) – a variety of experience you can take advantage of in ways that best meet your needs and encourage you to become a leader in a global community. Whether through the Common Reading Program, First-year Florida course, or Featured Speaker and Workshop Success Series student who participate will find themselves more engaged in the UF experience.
